The Liodoro bed and breakfast has four rooms and a mini flat. Each room is spacious and bright and the names chosen tell and praise the city of Catania.
Amenano: The room recalls the colours of the underground river that flows through the city of Catania. The room has bright windows, three beds and an en-suite bathroom.
Lavica: This room is a masterpiece. Inspired by the colours of Etna’s natural landscape, black like lava stone, red like incandescent lava and green like the lush vegetation that covers the volcano.
Ficodindia: here, you will find shades of green, yellow and red. The colours chosen are those of Sicily’s most representative fruit, the Prickly Pear. The room is very bright and has a splendid balcony.
A Muntagna: Spacious and bright, it recalls the colours of snow-capped Mount Etna and is furnished in a modern, comfortable style to best accommodate families.
Some curiosities and useful information
The name chosen for the b&b in via Gagliani 13 refers to an ancient legend. The symbol and emblem of Catania (the ancient Càtinon) is the elephant. The name of the elephant (Liotru) derives from Eliodoro (also called Diodoro, Liodoro, Lidoro, and also Teodoro). Heliodorus, according to the myth, met a sorcerer who initiated him into magic. Legend has it that the Liotru, the stone elephant located in Piazza Duomo, was sculpted by the magician. The elephant, forged with the lava of Etna, was ridden by Heliodorus himself while he raged through the streets of the city.
